If there are no details, either the name has not been registered or a veto has been placed by the birth parent(s). Birth parents of a child adopted after 1 March 1986 do not have the right to place a veto.
Born overseas ?   If you were born overseas on or after 1 January 1978 and one of your parents was a New Zealand citizen, then you may be a New Zealand citizen by descent. Note that this status must be registered through the Citizenship Office before your 22nd birthday or your citizenship will lapse.   You will need to provide a certificate of citizenship or proof that your citizenship by descent status has been registered, even if you have already had a passport.

The Brain Drain and the Knowledge Economy

As New Zealand approached the general election at the end of 1999, attention focused on the large numbers of young and often well-qualified New Zealanders leaving the country, and stemming this "brain drain" is one of the challenges that confronts the new government. Simultaneously, New Zealand is debating how to become a "knowledge society" (or, depending on the speaker, a "knowledge economy"), for which well-qualified and talented citizens are touted as a crucial ingredient. For many New Zealanders who are currently working outside of New Zealand the issue is not a lack of money, but a lack of opportunity.

The New Zealand Hospitals Online site had information on registration as a doctor in New Zealand.

" New Zealand is currently oversupplied with foreign doctors who are unable to practise because their qualifications are not recognised by the New Zealand Medical Council. Since 1992 about 4000 doctors have arrived in the country (which only requires about 6000 doctors in total) under a loose immigration policy which did not ensure a person's overseas qualifications were recognised for registration locally.
It is estimated at least 900 of these doctors are now unemployed and many others are working in non clinical fields while they wait to sit registration exams."
"Only 120 doctors can sit the exams at one time, and they are only held twice yearly."

What you should leave behind:
Quarantine Restrictions   New Zealand is a small island country, known for its lush vegetation, fruit crops, sheep, cattle and deer farming and natural beauty. Less than 10 percent of the world's pests and diseases occur there. Because New Zealand is an island nation, dependent on forestry and agriculture as a major part of the economy, the introduction of just one new pest or disease could have devastating consequences.
